Cascade Submersible Aquarium Heater Aquarium Heaters at Linens 'n Things

I put 2x 200 watt heaters in my 72 gallon bow front. That is good for 100+ gallons and due to it being in the basement where it is cooler... figured this would be the best bet. I originally set them to 74F. Both of them. After letting them sit in the tank for over a week, I was still only hitting 66F. I then turned them to 45 degree angles and still did not bump the temp up at all. I now have them set at 80F and getting at a temp of 72F. This is via the digital temp monitor and the old fashion mercury type thermometer. Good cheap product...only if you know what to do and realize that you need to adjust it higher to get the temp you need.

On November 18, 2010:
I bought the 100 watt Submersible Aquarium Heater by Cascade for my 20 gallon freshwater tank. Even after adjusting the thermostat to 80 degrees, the temperature in my tank was close to 10 degrees cooler. A 100 watt heater should not have a problem heating a 20 gallon tank. I am now using this 100 watt heater in a 10 gallon tank where it is performing as is should. I was very disappointed in the performance of this heater.
