On April 11, 2013:
Light works great and looks amazing. Really satisfied with this for the price, and very quick shipping, too.
On January 23, 2013:
These lights are great for growing freshwater plants. I've had the 24 inch about 16 months and love it so much I decided to buy the 48 inch as well. Also love the pink hue the fixture gives out while operating.
On January 19, 2013:
This light just lit up my tank. Way over what I expected. Way happy!!
On January 7, 2013:
Arrived four days from order!! I can now see my tank w/o straining. Replaces Aqueon full hood single tube light. Very happy. Will see how long it lasts.
On November 4, 2012:
I would not recommend this light. The adjustable docking mounts couldn't slide into the tracts. I had to remove the end plate of the lamp, file down the plastic on the mount and when that didn't work used a hammer to pound on the mount. A five minute job took an hour to complete. I also broke off a piece to the end plate. Poorly designed and assembled.
On January 10, 2012:
I have two of these fixtures the 30" and the 36" both of which I got from pet mountain and I love them. Nice styling and very well built. I use these for my planted tanks and I have nothing bad to say about them.
On December 5, 2011:
I bought this to replace an All-Glass T12 twin tube light fixture for a 55 gallon fresh water live plant tank. The T12 twin tube never produced quite enough light for my plants and T5HO's produce maybe up to twice as many lumens. It looks much brighter. I have the Nova sitting directly on Aqueon (All-Glass) twin tube style Versa-Tops. I did not install the legs (docking mounts) as I want all light to enter the aquarium and personally I just don't like the elevated style. This has worked well and the Nova looks really nice when set up this way. The 48" Nova has a single ballast, and despite some website's information and pictures, has no fan, no side bracket, and comes with a 12,000 K tube instead of the listed 10,000 K tube. Dimensions: 47.5" long X 5.5" deep X 2.1" tall.
On November 9, 2011:
And I love it. This is replacing a Coralife fixture that only lasted less than 2 years, cost more and the price of bulbs are twice as much than this fixture to replace. Nice and bright and it's already hooked up to my timer and ready to go. All you need is a very small Phillips screwdriver to attach the legs and away you go.
On October 4, 2011:
The light seemed like a good idea but had trouble with it starting. It would glow at the end but then go out. I don't need the aggravation so I returned the light.
On August 2, 2011:
I purchased one t5 light for around $76, with free shipping (best part). I was skeptical because of how cheap it was so I only bought one planning on being disappointed. The light shipped to me pretty quickly. I was very pleased with what I got. Very bright and full light no noise at all. Just overall a great product. My plants already look healthier and it's been two weeks. No problems. I was told at the pet store to spend 300 on one aqua life light or something of that name. And I bought two of these lights for my 135 g and they're fantastic. Very good purchase.
On July 21, 2011:
I bought two of these lights. This light does miracles to a fish tank. I see colors on my fish that I never saw before. I recommend this light for all freshwater tanks...
On May 25, 2011:
I ordered this light with lots and lots of research. This lighting system is one of the cheapest for the money! The bulbs included with the fixture are unbelievable. One 10,000 k bulb and another Plant growth bulb. For any of those who are hesitating to buy this.- It's a great T-5 fixture and it'll basically last a lifetime. The lighting is awesome as well, the 48" lights up my whole 75 gallon tank, the plant growth bulb also helps the plants grow faster and healthier. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a powerful T-5 fixture... - and its made in the U.S. so you can be looking for good quality!
On April 27, 2011:
I ordered one of these and 2 of the sockets showed up busted. The little tab on the underside that holds them vertical and broken off. I had PM ship an exchange unit and then read somewhere that about 80% of them show up with this problem so I kept the original and paid for the 2nd one. 2nd one showed up in good shape but sockets are still bad design, loose, needs to be reinforced. Other than that, this is quite a sturdy fixture, the reflector is a "W" shape so each lamp kind of has it's own reflector, it works well for my purposes.
On March 25, 2011:
I have this light on a 46 gal.bow front acrylic tank, the light fixture itself looked very squared away raised above the tank with its legs, then I turned it on WOW Amazing!!! Very bright, the fish seem to be happy and the plants seem to love it too.
On March 15, 2011:
I bought the light for my 30 in 30 gal. tank and I wasn't expecting anything amazing but this fixture really is the best out there and the cheapest for the quality. You'd have to spend 300 or so dollars on another brand with the same quality. My plants are growing great. Highly recommend this light!!!
On March 4, 2011:
I got this fixture for my 20 gallon tank. It came very well packaged and was easy to set up. I have it on timer and it works like a charm. My plants like it! The only thing I had to do was replacing one of the bulbs. The fixture featured a 12000K bulb instead of the 10000K daylight one from the description.
On January 4, 2011:
Ordered this light on Dec 19th and it arrived on Dec 24th. Everything is in great condition, the light goes together easily and looks great on my tank. No complaints so far.
On November 9, 2010:
The light came packed well and build quality seems pretty good. The end caps where a hair to close together and although they appear to be spring loaded they did not push back straight. They went back at an angle which concerns me about the pins making good contact over the long term. I had a ballast go bad for that reason once.
On October 26, 2010:
It is actually a lot brighter than I anticipated. I needed to replace my Coralife fixture but did not want to spend a lot of money. I am definitely happy with this.
On October 5, 2010:
I have a 240 gallon aquarium that used 4 single 48" light strips. 2 of them burned out so I ordered this as a replacement. The difference is remarkable. I'm ordering another to replace the other 2 strips I have now. The price is nice and shipping was quick.
On July 30, 2010:
I replaced an older aquarium light with this and was amazed by the display. It really brought out colors in the aquarium and fish that I had not seen before.
On July 20, 2010:
My fixture that I got is the 48' for my bigger tank and it really made a change in light from my prev. fixture.
Got it going and since this is a well planted tank that is "mature", I know this light will even do more to it.
Also, my fish coloration was even more enhanced by the light.
For this price, this is top notch and you don't need anything else.
On June 9, 2010:
I had a tough time getting it going. I inserted the bulbs many times and they would come on for a second and go out. I finally got them to come on and stay on so I decided to put it on the tank. The minute I moved the light they went out. I was frustrated, but I finally got them to come on again,. Now that it is on the tank, I turn it on and off every day with no problem. The light is beautiful and I don't expect to have any more problems. It's working fine. Just took some patience to get it going. The bulbs did make a "tinkling" sound when turned up or down, so thought they might be defective. But they weren't. I would order another if I needed one.
On April 5, 2010:
Very pleased with the product overall. Shipping was on time. Was also very happy with the packaging the light received. No broken pieces or parts. Light is a very good lighting system for a 15 or 20G aquarium. On the second day with the light, I had the same CO2 input and plants were pearling consistently and even rolling pearls off.
On December 17, 2009:
The product was exactly as explained on the site. The shipping was fast. I definitely will order from pet mountain again.
On December 14, 2009:
This is just what I wanted for my fresh water tank. It is sturdy and very well made. The colors of the plant life and fish are fantastic. I would buy this again. Very good value.
On September 5, 2009:
I RECENTLY SWITCHED TO THIS NEW LIGHTING SYSTEM AND WAS VERY IMPRESSED, LOW HEAT EMISSION, SUPERB BRIGHTNESS AND ENERGY EFFICIENT. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SYSTEM TO ANY AQUARIUM OWNER.
On March 1, 2009:
Great upgrade, unbelievable price, fast shipping, I recommend this light to any looking to upgrade!!!
On February 26, 2009:
Great upgrade from standard lamp, lighting is excellent, petmountain has best prices, fast shipping.I highly recommend this to anyone!!!
On February 8, 2009:
I bought one of the 48 inch units to try out last year, and have since converted my entire fish room to the HO Nova Extreme fixtures. They have been durable, trouble-free, and bright! I especially like them with one 10000K bulb and one 6700K bulb. Highly recommended, especially for the price.
On April 6, 2008:
It is definitely a big upgrade over the stock hoods, and the pink bulb with the 10k daylight bulb do balance out nicely. Overall, a good light product for very little money!
On January 9, 2008:
I have the 36", 78 watt freshwater Nova Extreme T5HO 2 on my planted 38 gallon tank. The contruction, installation, and use of the light is great. I was initially a little worried about the 10000 k and pink bulb combination. Not so much the 10000 k but the pink bulb. They do balance out nicely, but when I replace the bulbs I think I will replace the pink with the 6700k.
On January 4, 2008:
I went on a search for a new fixture when my old 36" 4x36W CF jbj unit went dead. I knew the new T5HO lamps were the latest technology. More lumens per watt. How true! I got the freshwater 36" nova extreme for my planted aquarium. Because of the hood on my bow front, and the way I have supports, I needed a slim light unit. This is the slimmest thing I've seen. Great materials, great satin paint, beautiful color rendering from the bulbs. And it runs cool. No fans. Quite! Very happy!
On December 28, 2007:
I own a number of aquariums and several have this make hood with excellent results.I recommend highly!
On September 24, 2007:
This fixture is the best bang for the buck. I was so happy with it I purchased another one. Great choice for my 30g.
On September 1, 2007:
I liked it. It's hassle free
