Good and bad - you get what you pay for

I loved this table from the moment I saw it! And the price couldn't be beat! Delivery was prompt. So far so good. The good - the table really is beautiful, especially the table top. I get tons of compliments! It's sturdy and solid and so much better than other tables around the same price point. I can seat 6-8 easily for a dinner party. The so-so - assembly is the key. It takes patience and some skill to make sure it isn't wobbly. The base comes in 4 pieces, and that's the hardest part to get straight. Once we got it together, the rest was cake. The bad - the table has a few areas on the side where the wood is split. More of a cosmetic nuisance, but annoying nonetheless. I think this is due to the mass manufacturing, but I'm going to have to fill it, sand it, and finish it to fix it. But not worth the hassle of returning and having to put together the base again. Plus, I signed off on the delivery slip already - seriously, who opens the box and checks for scratches and cracks before letting the men leave?
