This is the best harness I have ever come across for my 5 year-old schnoodle. It is not only excellent for buckling her into her car seat, but serves as her only harness for use with her leash. It never chokes or hurts her or seems to irritate her in any way. This is my 3rd one, so it really lasts well. The padding eventually becomes matted, but the harness itself never shows any wear.

I have 2 dogs and found this to be the best solution. I know they're safe, no wandering around the car, no jumping out into traffic and best of all my one dog can no longer sit on the head of my other dog! Like one of the other reviewers I shut the clasp in the car door and am now replacing it.

Our dog needed a comfortable, easy to get into harness after a neck injury. This was recommended by her vet. It is perfect!

We have these seat belt/harnesses for our dogs in both medium & larges. We've been using this brand for 7+ years with our older dog. The padding underneath is great for comfort for short haired dogs and the harnesses really hold the dogs in securely. They can still sit up and lie down when buckled in. The only reason we replaced our older dog's after 5 years was because we thought the plastic might be getting old, but was still working just fine. They wash well in the machine & air dry. We use them 2-3 times a week - minimum - for each and they're great on long road trips too.

My Four Paws Safety Seat Support Harness has worked perfectly for about two years, and I expected to get years more of protection from it until yesterday, when I closed the car door on the harness. This broke one of the buckles, rendering the harness ineffective. I am now buying the same harness again, without bothering to look for any other products.

I have purchased this item before for both my mini poodles. I love it because not only is it a safe and secure system for in the car but it also works well for walking as it is comfortable for the dogs because of the fleece padding on the harness.

This was the first harness we used when we got our dog, and we haven't found anything else that works as well. It fits well and works great in the car and on walks. We're on our third one and we highly recommend it.

Excellent in every way. Nice fleece lining so fabric doesn't rub against his little chest. Durable, washable, dry-able. We r ready for our 2nd one, only b/c this one's fleece isn't as fluffy after two years of washing. We love it!

On August 18, 2010:
I had ordered the small first to fit my 25 lb. beagle mix. The small was too small, so I ordered the medium. I was surprised in the difference in sizes because even after adjusting the medium down as small as it would go, it would not fit. Thank goodness I had another dog who the medium was a perfect fit.

This is an amazing harness..I have 2 large dogs..a golden and a husky-lab mix.both very stubborn(lovable) dogs. I couldn't walk them together..they pulled and tugged and dragged me.gave up and walked them individually..then I found this harness...we now walk in harmony..no pulling tugging or dragging. They are very well made, and seem to be very comfortable on them. My golden went swimming with hers on..dried fast. haven't washed them yet,but I imagine they'll wash great. I priced these, you have without a doubt the very best price. quick shipping..I've had other dog owners stopped me to find out where they can purchase them....a very,very good product..can't say enough..thanks

This safety harness is a little big right now for my 7 month old, but I think she will grow into it. She is 60lbs black lab/boxer mix. I must say that it holds her in place pretty good. I will see how it does once it actually fits her. If you do not have the kind of seat belt that hooks together separately (seat belt hooks and then shoulder strap hooks) then this will not allow your dog to lay down like it claims. Zoe is only able to sit when she is in the seat and is hooked up to a traditional seat belt. All in all, it's a nice safety harness and it is more comfy than the others out there. I just really hope that Zoe grows into it!

This harness is so easy to put on and take back off. My two shiz zhu mix dogs squirm out of regular harness collars. The fleece seems to be very comfortable for the dog. I haven't tried it in the car, but use it for walking the dogs.

This harness is made of the HIGHEST QUALITY! Our dogs have used them at least twice everyday on their walks for over 7 years. I have used them in the car. It works well for our large dog, but our Min Pin is better than Houdini, she is a regular Chris Angel. She can get out of her harness when walking or riding in the car if she really wants to. She got out of it a few times when she was younger. She is very head strong and stubborn, but we love her. She's older now and has mellowed out a lot. She's a large Min Pin. She weighs about 23 lbs. The size small harness fits her body length but as she has gotten older and put on a little weight the straps do not adjust enough to go around her. It fits her but is pretty tight. This is the only problem we have had with the harness. So I came up with an idea, I put a velcro strip in one side and made an extension. It looks a little funny but it works quite well. I just bought more harnesses for both my dogs. It's nice to have a spare when the other one is being washed. Oh, and they wash up very well.

This is my second harness, went right back to the same brand. I drive a sport coupe pretty modified.  I need to make sure my Australian Cattle Dog keeps on his own side. This works great for that. He sits in the seat like a little human passenger. When I had to have my seat out of the car and he wasn't in the harness I could tell he didn't feel as comfortable. This is a cheap device for the benefit it gives. The only flaw is the clasps are not replaceable, however; almost nothing is made to be serviced today and at $20 shipped it's a no brainer to just replace it if a clasp breaks. My old clasp only broke because I shut it in the door, I feel it would last a few years otherwise.

I can't say enough about this product. It's comfortable for my pup to wear, easy to put on. I can walk him with ease as a harness and it doubles as a car seat harness. There is a wide loop on the top of harness that the seat belt slides through and then you click the seat belt in place. THEY CAN'T GO ANYWHERE. No more jumping in your lap or from one place to another and if you have to hit the brake quickly, your animal wont go flying. It forces him to either sit straight in the seat or he can lie down; it just makes it hard for him to move anywhere else, just as it does a person. The belt will tighten up. Anyway, my life is 100% less stressful now and it helps my puppy too, I am sure. I would have paid $100 for it and should have bought it 7 months ago. No I don't work for Four Paws, but I am definitely a believer in this product. If you have the same problems I had, do yourself a favor and buy one. They are very reasonably priced and worth every penny. Trust me on this one!

Love this harness. I own 2 others. Unfortunately the youngest dog grew out of her Extra Small so I ordered the next largest size. Fits perfect as I knew it would. Purchased from Linen and Things because of LnT.com's good reputation and LnT also had the lowest price. It was a no-brainer. I wasn't disappointed in the service or the product.

The Four Paws Safety Seat Support Harness is the only harness that my "Houdini" dogs can not get out of. I've tried several kinds and this harness by Four paws is the only one that the dogs can't get out of and actually love to wear in the car.

With the average toys approaching $10-15 this is a bargain considering the safety it affords. I take my dog to a dog park almost daily. I picked up a seatshield for the passenger seat of my coupe and this harness. My dog sits safe and sound. I have no doubt in most accidents this would keep him safe...there really is no need to spend $50+ on a harness for safety IMHO. If you are in a major accident chances are any harness could let you down, esp in side impacts. The only inconvenience I have (and other harnesses are similar, is that if I clip his lead on to take him out of the car prior to removing the harness I have to use two hands to pull the lead through the harness. It's well-made and looks great...when my dog is full grown I will think about more expensive harnesses. He is only 6 months now and about half his estimated adult size.

On December 1, 2008:
This is the best seat belt and harness we've ever come across. When driving in Canada last Christmas we hit black ice and went into a huge skid and slide, ending up in a ditch. Through this all, our dog was secure and not harmed at all. In addition, when walking in all the ice and snow, the fluffy, padded chest harness kept her warm and dry. It was great to not have ice and snow packed on her hair when coming into the house. Hats off to your designers!

OUTSTANDING! for the safey of your pet when traveling this is a must! It is safe very safe I have 5 little ones and I tryed one and I am now getting ready to get 4 more. Theres nothing more when you love your pet to make sure they are safe Well here is the best product out there! its a peace of mind!

I love this safety harness. My little shih tzu is very fine boned and wears this whenever we go for a ride. It provides good cushioning and secure fit while being easy to put on and remove.

I purchased Safety Seat Vest Harness when our yellow lab, Lucky, was about 4 months old. He is always happy to sit while I put the harness on, because he knows it means we are going somewhere!

The Harness is easy to put on and also easy to attach to my car's shoulder harness. Lucky can sit or lay down while buckled in, but cannot move away from "his seat" in the car.

The fleece lining is soft and makes this harness more desirable. The vest design spreads the harness over the chest area, rather than just on two straps.

In case of an accident, the Harness will prevent your pet from being propelled through the car. That would be hazardous to the pet and/or the car driver/passengers.

The harness prevents Lucky from moving around inside the car. Did you know that some states have laws requiring animals to be restrained while the car is in motion? You can be fined if an accident is determined to be caused by an unrestrained pet distracting the driver.

An additional benefit to the harness is that Lucky will stay in his seat if I need to leave him in the car for a few minutes (such as going inside a gas station to pay for gas). No more doggy in the driver's seat!

I need to buy a new harness now because Lucky is full-grown and has outgrown the one we bought when he was a puppy. That harness is still in excellent condition, so we will be able to pass it on for continued use by someone else.

I highly recommend this product!

I researched other safety harnesses and felt this one had the safest fit and construction. The design of the fleece lined front leads to more coverage and better support than just plain straps that could slip and possibly cause more injury in an accident situation. I was able to borrow one before purchase and it sold itself, hands down.

I originally bought this harness as a seat belt and although it works great, I found the best use for it was just as a harness leash. I use it all the time, works beautifully at controlling my golden retriever with no choking around the neck. It is very well made and with all the padding, looks very comfortable. I've gotten lots of compliments on it and people often ask where I got it. It's also very easy to put on, not like some that are like a puzzle. This product is VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
