Have a young cat who is into everything. Not allowed on kitchen counter, but other means weren't keeping him off. Got the scat mat and he does stay off the area where the mat is. Only problem is i need to buy more to cover the entire counter because he knows where there isn't a mat. Ugh! The mat works very good, the cat doesn't!!!

On April 6, 2012:
I recently moved to a home near a busy road, and my dogs can be escape artists out the front door, and indeed I had chased down one several times when he weasled out. I purchased the 12" X 60" mat to put on the floor in front of the front door and it did the trick! They also don't jump all over the (new!) door whenever they hear me return home. When I'm taking them for a walk I roll it back so that they can leave without the tingle, and they've learned the routine. Yes, better dog training on my part would be desirable, but I needed a solution that worked immediately, and they didn't seem traumatized by the experience.

Okay so coming from someone who is against shock collars all her life... I have a change of heart. We have a 5 year old lab that gets on the couch and gets it dirty and a 10 month old German Short Haired Pointer that is jumping all over our couch and has chewed the trim off the arm of it as well. We have a doggy door so they have free run of the house and yard while we are away. After reading reviews I finally broke down and bought 2 of the sofa size mats for our sectional couch. I tested it on myself reluctant to use anything to this magnitude on my dogs. Since we have big dogs we decided to use it on the highest setting and after shocking myself to see the strength of it.... it feels like a good shock when you rub your feet on the carpet and shock someone real good. We have had this product now for 2 weeks and the dogs are completely avoiding the couch. When you get back to the house and tap the box on the mat it will flash a red light telling you how many times it was activated. After the first week you see significant results! This product is absolutely amazing!!! My new couch has been saved!

On February 1, 2011:
Works great. The dog made one attempt and hasn't touched the couch since. Perfect for a dog that is shock collar trained also.
