On October 28, 2011:
We ordered this cat feeder as we were going out of town for the weekend and wanted to be sure a stray cat we had been taking care of still got his food while we were gone. We put a bowl of dry food out and then used the automatic feeder for wet food. It seemed to work fine as the food was gone when we got home. My only negative feedback would be that, although it includes two ice packs that can be frozen and used to keep wet food cold, the ice packs are very thin and the final day's food that had just opened up smelled like it was old. I guess the ice packs didn't hold up for three days. I would definately recommend this feeder for dry food, though.

I have to say my overall satisfaction with this product is okay but could be better. I have had a problem with this unit and that is the battery doesn't have any type of cover so it can fall out. Unfortunately this happened when I went away for the weekend and the cats never got their food at all. Now I know I should tape the battery in. You think the product for this price would have a $2.00 cover built on to be placed over the battery to avoid this from happening.

I purchased this for my cat who has a problem with dry food, so when I am away, I need to have wet food available during the day. My pet sitter just checks up on my cat, at the end of the day and doesn't have to feed her. I am buying a 2nd plate for times that I have to be away for a longer time. Great product - pays for itself with less pet sitter appts.

On June 18, 2010:
I bought this feeder because I liked the ice packs to keep the food fresh. My small dog has acid reflux so she has to eat several times in one day, along with some fresh pumpkin. I thought this would be a great solution to keep the food fresh and feed her while I'm at work. Unfortunately, the meals have to be several hours apart at minimum, so this wasn't the right bowl for me. The pins to set the timer don't allow for feedings to be within 4 hours of each other. Plus, the numbers on the dials are pretty difficult to see and pinpoint an accurate time. I could see how it would be useful for those with cats, except the ice packs get warm pretty quickly. Fresh food could only be given for the day the ice is inserted, but not anything after that. So weekend trips w/ fresh food all weekend wouldn't be possible. You'd have to make sure an insert the ice packs RIGHT before you leave, also. They definitely do not last as long as advertised.

On March 17, 2010:
We have owned this feeder for 10+ years, and just bought a second one because our very old cat needs both wet and dry food. Our original feeder is still going strong. We're just happy that they are still making the original design. It's easy to use and obviously durable (kitty once sent it down a flight of stairs, it still works). We don't use it every day, though. Ice packs only last about a day, so keep that in mind.

On December 28, 2009:
I bought the feeder 3 weeks ago in order to feed the cat during short holidays. The start was good; it worked, the manual was clear and the cat was fed nicely two times a day. Unfortunately, this tool is not resistant to an aggressive, hungry cat that tries to open the feeder. Somehow the battery on the floor is not protected and fals out when the cat shakes the feeder. Really sad that the producer of this feeder couldn't afford to apply a battery cover. Another problem is that the feeder turns good the first two weeks. After that time the cover only turns after the application of silicon spray or oil on the plastic parts. My opinion is that this product is a good idea, however I wouldn't recommend it because it is not built to last in daily practice
