Drinkwell The Original Pet Fountain - 50 oz Electric Dog Waterers at Linens 'n Things

On November 14, 2012:
Elvis, a chocolate siamese, had a bad habit of drinking from the kitchen sink faucet. My wife bought this product hoping it would stop him. It did, however after about 5 months it started to leak. The section of the base that holds the pump developed a crack. I tried to repair it twice with no luck. The cat was confused when I took it down so he went back to the sink. I went to the web site hoping to order a new base but it was not available in the spare parts section. I ordered a new unit. It lasted 4 weeks before it started leaking also. The same area - where the pump screws into the base. The design of the pump mounting is terrible. Hard to remove, hard to put back in, especially for someone that has normal size fingers. I don't think I'll buy a third one, and would not recommend this product. Either the location of the pump or the material it mounts to needs to be changed.

This is my second brand of a water fountain and I find this one very easy to take apart and clean. But, like all things that run and use water--it has to be cleaned on a very regular basis and so it is a constant upkeep. But, my cats love it and drink from the fountain stream all the time. The only trouble, like the other person mentioned is that there is calcium build up on the plastic and it is hard to take off. But, when you love your cats, you'll do most anything to keep them happy.

On July 13, 2012:
I bought the Drinkwell to replace a Cat-It bubbler fountain that quit working after about three years. My cat has always preferred running water to drinking out of a bowl, and I have always had some sort of fountain available for her. I thought she liked the old ones, but she goes nuts over the Drinkwell. She has the option to drink out of the spigot or the reservoir (she prefers the spigot) and sometimes she'll just sit there and watch the water run. It's not especially noisy, and it's fairly easy to clean and fill. If I had a complaint, it's that it's really not very attractive- the cat doesn't care, but I'd like it to be a bit cooler-looking. Overall, it's a winner!

On January 12, 2012:
We love this fountain. We had to purchase a replacement after the first motor burned out when we let it run dry, so make sure you follow the instructions. Our cat drinks so much more water than he used to before we had the fountain, which is always a problem. Recommended for sure.

My cat loves to drink from the spout in the bathtub and she drives me crazy sitting in the tub crying for me to turn on the water when ever she's thirsty. So, silly me, I thought I'll get her this cool Drinkwell dish with the running water just like in the tub. How could she not love this? Well, she will only drink from it if it's unplugged and sitting in the tub where I've just filled it with fresh water from the spout. I think it's the sound from the motor in the bowl that she is not comfortable with.

Thanks for sending the Pet Fountain so quickly. My cat loves it. I knew she would, since this is a replacement for the one that we had for several years until I broke a part. For cats who like to drink running water, this is the best solution. Works well, offers a stream that's the right size for a cat, and is easy to clean. The reservoir (sold separately--I already had one) makes it convenient for leaving one cat for several days.

On October 12, 2011:
I love it-----HOWEVER---out of three cats I have one who also loves it, one who (after a week) still hasn't figured it out and one who is terrified at the thought of even getting near it. But I am hoping that with time (should we all live so long) that they will love it. It is super easy to maintain--dis-assembly for weekly cleaning and is otherwise maintenance free. And the water stays cool and fresh. It takes little space-just so it is near an outlet-and I placed mine on a cloth place mat. I have a reverse osmosis system in my house so don't think the extra filter is necessary. AND, buy it at PetMountain. The price is right!

I BOUGHT THE DRINKWELL WATER BOWL WITH MY CAT IN MIND...AND SHE NOW LAYS BY THE BOWL AND DRINKS AT HER LEISURE...ROUGH LIFE!

Purchased the original pet drinking fountain for my cat, who would only drink from the dog water dish. It works and he loves it. What a great idea and the price was very good also. I purchased the filters, but do not use them because they made the water black. I would highly recommend this dish to anyone who loves their animals!!

We bought the original fountain for our two cats. They always wanted to drink from the faucet. Now that stopped because they drink from the fountain anytime. It is fairly quiet. It gets noisy when water is low. Also one girl tried to tip the bowl but couldn't (she always tipped over the regular water bowl). It is easy to clean--the first time it was hard--but now we know how to do it. It really works for us and our girls love it. Also the price was right.
